Stop Criticising Your Victimizing Humanity

The
poets in the third video advocate that it is a woman's choice what she wears,
how much she decides to bare, and what kind of image she wants to portray. At
the same time, they point out the ways media and commercialism seeks to limit representations
of women. What do you make of the tension between "an individuals
choice" and the ways society (media, advertising, etc.) seem to shape or
condition those choices? To what degree are our choices already limited by what
is available? What about young people - or those without critical thinking
skills - who are inundated (flooded) with pop culture but haven't the capacity
to understand their choices? 300 words.

1.The
Brave New Voices poets expressed that individualism is hard to live by because
of the stereotypes shoved at us women by society. Women have expectations to
show the most skin they can when dressing up for Halloween now days. The
costumes have become smaller and made for hookers. Personally, when I went to
the costumes stores last year I noticed that all of the costume packages covers
of the models looked like they were a part of the play boy mansion. I believe
that to be false advertisement because not everyone looks like the people on
those covers. Even if they could look like those models on the covers why would
we actually want people to be showing so much skin. I think it mainly effects
the kids and the generations to come mindset. The kids would think it is right
to dress skimpy. This reminds me of how I see pictures on the social network
with thousands of likes of kids of the year 2000 compared to kids of today.
When the kids of the year 2000
are fully dressed wearing casual jeans and a t-shirt compared to the kids of 2013 wearing tights and a bra.

Voices poets in the poem “_Halloween” the spoken word artist expressed that
individualism is hard to live by because of the stereotypes shoved at us women
by society. This form of criticism causes people to be somewhere they’re not.
Halloween has traditional been a day to celebrate the dead. Throughout years
society has formed Halloween into a day where they can dress as their sluty
alter ego.“This year I decided to be a school teacher, nurse, fairy, wonder woman
but, when I went to buy the costume. I was like, where is the rest of it? Is b
for books or boob? Was the tooth fairy a stripper? To check temperatures or
raise them? Oh hell nah heels! Halloween has become a different kind of strip
show.” Now on Halloween day women have expectations to show the most skin they
can when dressing up. The costumes have become smaller and made for hookers.

to have the same exact costume on as their mothers’, which is totally
unacceptable. If a mother and daughter are both naughty, then whose going to be
nice? I think it mainly affects the kids, and the mindset of those generations
